I’m from dusty diamonds and sun flower seeds.
I’m from sunglasses and glitzy headbands, from the joy of being
Safe at first.
I’m from love and support, and everlasting friendships.
I’ m from sister rivalries and late night stories, from
Tents made from chairs and bed sheets. They were never as big as they
Seemed.
I’m from loss and heartache, feeling the warm stream of salty tears running
Down my face.
I am from Toria and Darian, the inseparable two. From Greenday’s “The Time of Your lIfe” and Sour Patch Kids.
I am from house fires and death, from losing my best friend and the one closest to me.
I’m from “Hey there Munchkin” and rocking chairs. From sitting in the garage watching the storms
Pass by.
I am from music, lyrics being 95% of what runs through my head.
I’m from endless love and forever friends, from Cincinnati, concerts and food courts.
I am from long distances.
From Alabama, Kentucky and Tennessee.
I am from on top of the roof in the middle of the storm, from sleeping in the band room.
From mission trips.
I am from Ascension Lutheran Church, a second family, from singing, sardines, and failing to pull and all nighter.
I’m from Truth or Dare, and green turtle sandboxes.
I am from silly names and much support. From love, encouragement, arguments and tight family bonds.
Beautiful poem! You used so many great moments and details and specifics that I really feel like I have such a good sense of who you are (though I'm sure of course there is even more to know about you!). Thanks for such an insightful and well-written poem!
