Valentines Day ♥
Her brown eyes crying as he walks away.
She wants one last hug; just one hug goodbye.
Confused, she wonders where she went astray?
He told her their love was put on standby.
Weeks pass by, she still cries every dark night.
She wants him shot dead, "he needs to suffer."
Walking alone, shes cold but shes alright.
"I'm sick of all these crazy heart breakers"
Stronger now she will hold her head up high.
Crying over him is not an option.
To her he's just another passer-by.
She's ready for a new man to walk in.
Late nights are bad as she plots her revenge,
Soon all men's lives must come to a quick end.
She wants one last hug; just one hug goodbye.

Inmate Reflection
Courage has always been a characteristic I have admired in people. The inmates that talked to us today have the most courage I have ever seen in someone. I was surprised to hear all of them were addicted to drugs or alcohol, looks really can be deceiving. More than two thirds of the men here today looked like normal members of society; many also looked not much older than I. It was surreal to hear how they have turned their lives around completely, and how they regret every single thing they have done in the past that got them to where they are today. Right now if I were in their shoes I would hope for the chance to have what they have, they have the chance to go talk to young people and give them a reality check before they end up in the same hole they are. It was very upsetting to hear that most of them were fathers and they had families back home. I don’t know what they must be feeling with all the guilt of leaving them behind because they made a few dumb choices. Every one of the men that came in were not criminals at all, they just made poor decisions and they are now facing their consequence. Not all consequences are bad though; I feel that if any of these men were to be released back into society they would be able to stay “clean” and become once again a “normal” member of society. I am so thankful that they did come and speak to us because I think many people in this school need to hear that and it was an eye opener for many (or at least I hope it was). Teachers have told me that seniors every year say they wish that they had this presentation when they were freshman and I now agree 100% with them. These men have such a powerful message young teens need to hear that earlier to help prevent them from even starting to go down the wrong path. As a trend I have noticed that our incoming freshman keep getting worse and worse behavior wise. And young people keep trying dugs, alcohol, and sex at younger and younger ages. At this rate these men will have to go talk to elementary school kids! I wish more people than just the seniors can hear them. And I wish more people would take their word more seriously. I admire every single one of those brave men who came and talked to us today.

Why I Want a Wife Response
1. Yes the thesis is clearly stated that Brady wants a wife.
2. I believe Brady is going for the effect that being a wife can be hard and we can’t do it all by ourselves.
3. I feel Brady wishes she could be the type of wife she describes. This ideal spouse does not exist because no one is perfect. I think Brady wrote this to let men know how hard it is to be a wife and a mother and being there for everybody and catering to everyone’s needs.
4. She defines it as hard strenuous work, the way she organizes it I feel like it goes in importance of the topics. First she talks about her kids; she wants a wife to make sure they are taken care of. Then she talks about wanting someone to be able to take care and help her; then it goes to keeping everyone happy and entertaining friends, then pleasing her spouse. I feel like this is a plea for help. I strongly believe she wants more men to read this and understand that a wife’s duties are more complicated than they seem and to show a glimpse of what they have to do everyday. I like to believe she did this for all of the women who are afraid to stand up to men and let them know what we have or will have to go through.
5. Dear Mrs. Brady,
I loved your satire “Why I Want a Wife”. I like how you show just a glimpse of an everyday life for a average wife. It takes a lot of work I understand I see my mother getting stressed all the time and it seems that everything falls onto her. If it weren’t for wives I don’t think men would be capable of living there lives and doing all of the responsibilities that a woman has. Now I’m not saying this about every man because I do understand that there are lots of single fathers out in the world doing an amazing job. I feel like your satire really shows all the things women have to juggle and I think it is a great teaching tool for men to understand why women get so upset sometimes.
Sincerely,
Victoria A.

The Little Girl and The Wolf:
I loved the ending of the story. When I first started reading it I thought it was going to be another Little Red Ridding Hood story; everything was the same, except for the ending. And the moral is too funny "It is not easy to fool little girls nowadays as it used to be."
The Princess and The Tin Box:
This story's ending was a curveball, I did not expect her to choose one of the nice gifts. I was really expecting her to take the tin box. This just proves how unpredictable people are.
The Bear:
I like how this story shows you dont need to be high on drugs or drunk on alcohol to make a fool out of yourself. The bear was just showing people how he used to act and was happy that he isn't like that anymore but, he still made the same mess that he did when he drank all day long.

Fairy Tale Poem
Lion and the Mouse:
So confined; this net it squeezes me tight like a boa constricter.
The mouse sits in front of me taunting me, laughing.
Beauty and the Beast:
Why is wrong with this gal? Out of all the suiters in the village, she chooses me?
I am ugly, large, and hairy. I am not the right one for her.
The Little Mermaid:
Quickly gliding throught the water, I play with flounder.
Hoping one day, to be able to run around in that world above.
Grasshopper and the Ants:
Work, work, work. The more food the better off we will be.
Grasshopper, hes foolish not to collect food. Once winter comes who will be the one having all the fun?
Cinderella:
My hands and feet; bloody and blisterd. I work all day long, and get nothing in return.
One day, I tell myself, soon one day I will be free from this life.
"Scrub the floors", "Wash our dresses", the demands never stop.
I have had enough of this, I physically and mentally can not take this tourture any more.
Once they are gone I break down and cry, my body has no other way of coping with this.
Soon the room is filled with a bright light, with the sweet aroma of fresh flowers.
I hear a comforting voice, one I have never heard before.
"Don't cry my dear, every thing will soon be alright."
I still cant see her yet, then out of the light I see a small round figure approaching me.
Shes older, I am intruiged, but I really should be getting back to my work Momma will be home from the ball soon.
"Sorry, but I really don't have time to talk. Momma will be home soon and if I don't get my work done I wolnt get my piece of bread and glass of water for dinner!"
Little Red Riding Hood:
The sweet aroma of her perfume lures me in even more.
The deep crimson red makes my mouth water. Just one bite, thats all I need.
Alice In Wonderland:
Curiosity fills me, or am I just going crazy? A talking rabbit, a crazy man?
This must be a dream, I just want to go home.
Princess and the Pea:
I brace myself as I hear her climb up the ladder, I once again will have to suffer another night of being squished. All of the matrasses really are starting to give me back problems.
Snow White:
Shes magical, the most beautiful woman our fourteen eyes have ever seen.
Her melodic voice carries through the woods bringing peace and relaxation to all.
So confined; this net it squeezes me tight like a boa constricter.
The mouse sits in front of me taunting me, laughing.

This I Believe Reflection
Pennies From Heaven:
When I began to read this essay I was reminded a lot of myself. Reg tells stories about how his wife always picked up pennies and put them in her shoes for good luck. Soon after she lost her battle to cancer he started to find pennies everywhere. He started to pick them up one by one. He didn't realize how many times this was occurring until he had to get a larger jar to keep all of his pennies. He believes that these pennies are from his wife, showing him that she is still there. This reminds me of myself; because I lost my best friend/my cousin a few years ago and every time I get down or am in a bad mood I always find a picture of us, or I find myself not knowingly going out and buying Sour Patch Kids, our favorite candy. It is a little reminder that he is still here with me.
This I Believe:
This writer tells their story of coping with ALS ( Lou Gehrig's Disease). They talk about not taking things for granted and it really reminded me of my cousin Darian. He battled Duchennes Muscular Dystrophy; just as ALS it is a muscle reducing/impairing disease. Darian, as did this person lived their live to the fullest. I wish more people would appreciate the simple things in life like these two courageous people have. They are very optimistic and the little things that go wrong do not bother them.
Finding Out What Is Under Second Base:
Lex the author of this essay really stresses for people to take the time out of everyday to see "whats under second base" or in better words "take time to smell the roses". He talks about the "hustle and bustle" of every day is voluntary and we can stop doing this when ever we feel the need to. I can really relate to this one I love the analogy "finding out whats under second base" because I am a softball player; but two i have just recently learned the true meaning of taking time to stop and smell the roses.
I Believe In Baseball:
I chose to read this essay because I myself am a ball player; softball not only is it my favorite past time its my life. I live to play softball. I believe baseball and softball teach you very important life lessons. This young lady talks about growing up she always rooted for the Mets, rooting for the underdogs.
